  Antique Lamps

Have you ever seen an old movie or TV show like Little House on the Prairie, they did not have electricity back then so they used kerosene lamps? Those are the perfect example of antique lamps. The days of the kerosene lamp were over many, many years ago. They would make the perfect antique lamp for your growing collection. These lamps were the first lamps used fro lighting after the candle light days.

Later on came the Victorian lamps, they used electricity but they had a gorgeous lampshade, some were circle lamps bulbs and others were lamp shades. Then we had the English oak lamps, these lamps had the lampshade with the tassels on the bottom of the shade. Through out the years we have had many different styles of lights. Each style of lamp over the years had their own unique style; no two styles in different eras were ever the same. Each time period had its own style and unique flair.

Antique lamps are easy to find, you can find them at any local antique shop and you can find them in any local antique shop or a vintage store may have a few. Shopping online may find you more of a selection of lamps. Some have been rewired so that they will work but everything else on it is still considered an antique. An antique lamp would look great on a mantle or on an end table.
